Join the conversation over tea and refreshment about inclusive teaching practices.

Diversi-Tea is a new initiative by the Teaching and Learning Center, and is part of an ongoing effort to facilitate communication among faculty and staff about issues related to inclusive teaching practices. In monthly sessions, faculty and staff will be given the opportunity to learn from one another and engage in dialogue about the various ways of incorporating inclusive teaching practices.

The goal of Diversi-Tea is to help faculty and staff gather insight on:

  • Engagement of diverse student populations
  • Teaching of self-regulation and study skills
  • Ways to prevent and address issues of incivility and bias
  • Self-assessment of their own cultural competency
  • Guided reflection activities for diverse learners
  • Communicating best inclusive practices with their colleagues

Tea and snacks will be provided at the sessions, and Diversi-Tea will take place in the Mary Greer Room in Hodges Library from 3:30 – 5 p.m. on the following dates with the associated topics:

  • Thursday, September 14 – Self-regulation and study skills instruction for diverse learners
  • Thursday, October 12 – Difficult dialogues and how to handle incivility in the classroom
  • Thursday, November 9 – Issues in Accessibility
