Creating a Syllabus

Oftentimes, a course syllabus serves as the first impression of your course and your instructing methods. It states your own classroom policies, as well as how your course aligns with UT Knoxville course expectations. Not only does a syllabus set your objectives for the course, but it also describes the value of the course for your students (learning outcomes).

The syllabus can be so much more than a black and white piece of paper Рit can be interactive and intrigue your students about the opportunities within your course. Additionally, your syllabus should serve as a student resource, by containing links to supporting documents that describe assignments, information on guidelines, studying tips and much more.
